DMH Rehabilitation Programs Receive Highest Quality Certification |
Date : - 07/08/2009 |
August 7, 2009...The DMH Inpatient Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Unit and the DMH Outpatient Rehabilitation Program are now accredited by the internationally recognized Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). CARF International announced that both programs have been accredited for a period of three years. The DMH Inpatient Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Unit and the DMH Outpatient Rehabilitation Program are the first hospital programs in Decatur to receive CARF accreditation.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows DMH’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. “Receiving CARF Accreditation demonstrates our continuous dedication to providing quality rehabilitation care to each patient we serve,” said Jeff Brown, Director of DMH Rehabilitation Services. Both DMH Rehabilitation programs participated in a rigorous peer review process and have demonstrated to an on-site evaluation CARF team that DMH’s physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and nursing care are of the highest quality.
The DMH Inpatient Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Unit is one of only three CARF accredited Skilled Nursing Units in Illinois. This program is headed by Medical Director Stephen Goetter, MD, Internist, and is supported by a dedicated care team consisting of nurses, case managers, physical, occupational and speech therapists.
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Program at Decatur Memorial Hospital is headed by Anthony Collins, MD, Neurologist. The Outpatient Program includes services such as Wound Care and Hyperbaric Services, Stroke Rehabilitation, Lymphedema, Women’s Health, Amputation Rehabilitation, Balance, Orthopaedic, and Neurological Rehabilitation.
CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. CARF has established consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve quality of programs and services.
