CDH Nurse Presents at National Conference |

WINFIELD, Ill., August 21, 2009 - Cynthia Hinojosa, MS, APN, ANP-BC, CCRN of Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) was selected to present at the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses' Annual Meeting (AAHFN) in Minneapolis, Minn. Hinojosa presented an interactive poster presentation entitled: Heart Failure Core Measures - A Multidisciplinary Approach.
"By working with a structured heart failure committee and a multidisciplinary team, we have improved the care for patients with heart failure," concluded Hinojosa, who is an advanced practice nurse in heart and vascular care at CDH.
The AAHFN Annual Meeting is planned to meet the needs of nurses and a broad range of health care professionals like cardiac/heart failure administrators, clinical directors, physician assistants, and dieticians. A variety of educational offerings are planned that will encourage the exchange of new scientific and clinical information and support the interchange of opinions regarding care and management issues relevant to heart failure.
Hinojosa received her Bachelor of Science in nursing and Bachelor of Science in psychology at Elmhurst College and her Master of Science in adult nurse practitioner at Northern Illinois University. An active volunteer with Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy, she is currently involved in the "Reading with Rover" library program that provides children in grades 2-5 with the opportunity to practice their reading skills by reading aloud to a specially trained therapy dog. Hinojosa, and her husband, Daniel, reside in Carol Stream.
