Known to the hospital and continuing care as the "girls with the heart of gold," the Central Peace Health Complex Auxiliary formed when the communtiy hospital was built in 1972.
A gift cupboard is stocked by auxiliary members containing quilts, knitted and crocheted articles, books, toiletries and many other items. Members also swwew and knit/crochet lap blankets for the contining care residents at the Health Complex. They also operate a yearly quilt raffel and offer a canteen cart service to patients and residents.
The Auxiliary also receives memorial and direct donations which can be made to any Auxiliary member or mailed to the Auxiliary. Members work to secure government grants for projects wherever possible.
Over the years the Auxiliary has supplied the complex with a jacuzzi whirlpool tub, television sets, night tables, chair lifts, special air mattresses, bath stretcher, Broda chair, and many other pieces of specialized equipment and furnishings.
For Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving, volunteers make small gifts for patients and contining care residents that are delivered on their meal trays. They also donate to Ronald MacDonald House in Edmonton every year.
