April 1st marks an important transition: we become a single provincewide organization, serving all the people of Alberta. This means that we can ensure that good ideas from anywhere in the province can be picked up and rolled out to every corner of Alberta. We are the largest health care provider in Canada; it is our task to demonstrate we are also the best, and to become the gold standard for health delivery around the world.
Over the next 30 days, I plan to visit every major centre in the province. I want to meet staff and members of the community to hear what they have to say about how we can improve health care in the province. I?m also committed to meeting the expectations and goals of our Board, which include looking at better ways to deliver health care to Albertans in an accessible, sustainable and patient-focused manner.
I am confident that we can build a system that is second to none. I hope that you can join in my excitement for the future of Alberta Health Services. I know that together, working as partners, we can create a health system that is enviable, efficient and exciting.
