California Pacific Medical Center has named John B. Gates as its new Chief Financial Officer.
Gates comes to CPMC from Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey where he was the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
“We are delighted to welcome John to California Pacific,” says Martin Brotman, M.D., president and CEO of California Pacific Medical Center. “Finding the right person to help run an operation as large and complex as a four-campus city-wide hospital
system is not easy, but with John we know we have the perfect candidate. He has years of experience working in healthcare, and a sharp and flexible mind. We know our finances are in good hands with him.”
A graduate of the University of Detroit, Gates received his MBA from Villanova University before moving on to serve as CFO at Forum Health in Youngstown, Ohio; Covenant Health Systems in Lubbock, Texas; and Parkland Hospital and Health System in Dallas, Texas.

We are about to build a new hospital at our St. Luke’s Campus. We are planning a new world class hospital at Cathedral Hill. I’m looking forward to helping the hospital find the funds to do all that, and continue to offer the best care possible to our patients.”
