History Of Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital & Clinic
In the beginning, Chippewa County – Montevideo Hospital was founded in 1910 as a private, non-profit corporation at a site on North 6th Street and Highway 7. When the doors opened to admit the hospital’s first patients, the hospital’s goal was to provide high quality health care in a responsible setting. In approximately 1947, the clinic was officially named the Montevideo Clinic and was located on the lower level of the First National Bank. The hospital was relocated to 824 North 11th Street in 1976. During June of 1978, the Clinic moved into facilities attached to the hospital as the need for space increased. On January 1st, 2005, the Hospital purchased the clinic and combined operations. Our combined Hospital and Medical Clinic is a government, city and county owned facility with links to Luther Haven Nursing Home and Copper Glen Assisted Living Residence. The original goal to provide high quality health care in a responsible setting continues to be a prime motivator of our organization and is reflected in our mission statement.
