| ARMC’s Fourth Annual Research Day |

For these young researchers the results are in: Uma Devaki, DO, of the Family Medicine department at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is the winner of the Fourth Annual Research Day contest with a project titled “Effects of Implementation of a Rapid Response Team at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.” Devaki received a cash award of $700.
ARMC’s annual research day received 34 submissions, and showcased the work of 41 residents, whose research will help contribute to medical knowledge in the region. ARMC is a teaching hospital, with more than 100 residents training in 10 medical service areas.
Additional awards went to Linda Lam, PharmD (second place), Department of Pharmacy, with a project titled, “Protocol Development: Comparison of Continuous Versus Intermittent Vancomycin Infusion for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcal Infections;” and Chiado Nguyen, DO (third place), and Glenn Niegas, DO (third place), Internal Medicine Department, with a project titled: “Troponin Elevation in Severe Sepsis and Septic Shock.” These winners also received cash awards with second place receiving $500, and third place, $300.
Abstracts of the research are published in the Proceedings of ARMC Research Conference journal edited by David Lanum, MD, and co-editor Edward W. Lee, MD,PhD. Dr. Lanum is the Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, and Dr. Lee is Director of Research for the Department of Family Medicine.
