DeKalb Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1964. It was built with voluntary contributions of the citizens of DeKalb County. Today, the hospital remains as an independent healthcare organization, whose main mission is provision of high quality healthcare services to the citizens residing in its service area. DeKalb Memorial prides itself on bringing "Better Health for Those Close to Us."

Dekalb Memorial History
1964 Jan. — DeKalb Memorial Hospital opens doors.
1975 DeKalb Memorial Hospital begins operation of Emergency Medical Services.
1977 Expansion of EMS Buildings and Medical Arts Center West physicians offices completed.
1984 New Cardiac Intensive Care Unit opens.
1989 Radiology Department adds Imaging Wing.
1992 Medical Arts Center East opens three-story wing featuring physicians offices, pharmacy, and community and staff education conference areas. Ancillary Services, Patient Registration, and Emergency Department undergo remodeling. Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation services introduced.
2002 Jun. — Rehabilitation and Obstetrics areas open.
2002 Dec. — Renovations and expansion of south entrance Lobby, Snack Bar, and Gift Shop is complete.
2007 Oct. — Construction begins on three story 75K square foot addition.
2007 Dec. — Emergency Services lobby and waiting areas renovated and expanded.
2008 May — Surgical Center opens on third floor on newly expanded space.
