In February, 1998, Clearwater Valley Hospital & Clinics in Orofino, Id. and St. Mary's Hospital and Clinics in Cottonwood, Id. forged a partnership through the Benedictine Health System based in Duluth, Minnesota to form a regional health care system. We share a joint management team, exchange staff, enter into joint service and purchasing contracts and support one another in carrying out the mission of the Essentia Community Hospital & Clinics (formerly Benedictine Health System).
As a part of our health care mission, both St. Mary's and Clearwater Valley Hospitals acquired or established satellite medical clinics in Kamiah, Kooskia, Nezperce, Craigmont, Pierce, Cottonwood and Orofino. They hosted close to 45,000 patient visits last year.
St. Mary’s Hospital and Clinics is a health and human service organization entrusted with the furtherance of the health care mission of the Sisters of St. Scholastica Priory. The hospital and clinics, therefore, are committed to witness God’s love for all people, with special concern for the poor and powerless. This mission is accomplished by the provision of competent, compassionate health and wellness services in an environment which enhances human worth.
