The Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHIFL) is one of Colorado's two state-operated inpatient psychiatric hospitals. The hospital is under the direction of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). The Mental Health Institute Division administers and oversees the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan (CMHI Fort Logan) and the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo. The Division is part of the Colorado Department of Human Services and is organized within the Department’s Office of Behavioral Health and Housing.
CMHI Fort Logan serves clients in the civil mental health system. Civil clients are referred for admission by the states’s Community Mental Health Centers. CMHI Fort Logan works with the Community Mental Health Centers and mental health professionals, patients, families, and mental health advocacy groups toward the goal of preparing our patients to return to their homes and communities. CMHI at Fort Logan is a training institution and has internship programs for psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, registered nurses, recreational, occupational and music therapists, as well as for pastoral education.
