St Albans City Hospital is a local general hospital offering a number of services including day surgery and a minor injuries unit. The hospital also provides a wide range of diagnostic, outpatients and ophthalmology facilities. The Breast Care Unit was formed in 2005 from the centralisation of breast services in the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The unit see and investigate some 3000 new patients per year. The state-of-the-art unit is based in a new, purpose-built clinic area at St Albans City Hospital where approximately 90% of breast operations can be undertaken. The renal dialysis unit based at St Albans City Hospital is linked with Lister Hospital in Stevenage.
