General information: The new £25m Newton Abbot Community Hospital opened to patients on 12 January 2009. The new hospital will provide people living in Newton Abbot and the surrounding area with a state of the art health facility for the future. It replaces the 110-year old Victorian and Edwardian hospital which no longer fits the purpose of delivering 21st century health and social care. Better services from the new hospital include:
New maternity unit, the first in Newton Abbot for a generation
new paediatric therapy unit bringing services for children together in one place
new sound proofed audiology booth for children to improve hearing services in Newton Abbot.
Visiting times: Visitors are welcome between 2.00pm - 5.00pm and 7.00pm - 8.00pm
Services provided at this hospital: include Family Planning, Podiatry, Rheumatology, diabetes, orthopaedics, vascular, opthalmology, audiology, breast care, urology, child health,paediatrics, adult speech therapy, child speech therapy, dermatolgy, podiatry, gastro, physiotherapy, and bladder and bowel care.
