| Smyrna Clayton Medical Services expands; Includes World's Most Powerful Open MRI |

This fall, Bayhealth will open the doors of our newly expanded Smyrna Clayton Medical Services, which will boast the world’s most powerful Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system.
We are currently putting the finishing touches on our 30,000 square foot expansion of the facility on North Carter Road. When completed, this new facility will offer the latest diagnostic tools, including the 1.2t Open MRI (selected for superior quality and patient comfort), CT, Ultrasound, General X-Ray and Lab tests.
The Hitachi Oasis High-Field Open MRI system has an accommodating design that reassures patients, as well as a broad range of clinical capabilities and features to meet the demand of today’s diagnostic imaging professionals.
"Bayhealth’s new Oasis MR system enables us to offer physicians and the central Delaware community access to the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment currently available in the healthcare industry," said Bayhealth Administrative Director of Diagnostic Imaging John Desiderio.
The inside of the Oasis gantry provides a 270˚ unobstructed view for the comfort of patients. This large view minimizes anxiety and claustrophobia and maximizes a more pleasant environment for the patient during the exam.
This unparalleled patient comfort is combined with powerful technology and an ultra fast scanner to make patient exams as quick and smooth as possible. The imaging power is further boosted by an array of anatomically-specific, optimized receiver coils that allow advanced imaging applications ranging from vascular to orthopedic to women’s health.
The existing Smyrna facility opened in 1992 and is also the home of Delaware Medical Care and Family Medicine of Smyrna Clayton. Space also exists for additional physician offices once the new facility opens.
