SVHC, TRICARE Prime Sign Contract For Services At St. Luke's |
Date : - 01/09/2009 |
St. Vincent’s HealthCare (SVHC) and TRICARE have signed a contract that allows all TRICARE Prime beneficiaries access to St. Luke’s Hospital services. The contract becomes effective Sept. 1, 2009 and covers hospitalization for inpatient care, anesthesiology, pathology, radiology and emergency room services.
TRICARE Prime is a managed care option offered by TRICARE, a United States Department of Defense healthcare program that provides healthcare benefits for military personnel and their dependents.
TRICARE Prime beneficiaries have sought quality, mission focused care at St. Vincent’s Medical Center for many years. Now those same beneficiaries can get the same level of service at St. Luke’s Hospital as well.
St. Luke’s Hospital, the city’s oldest private hospital, became part of the St. Vincent’s HealthCare system in April 2008. Located in Jacksonville’s rapidly expanding Southside, the hospital offers many TRICARE Prime beneficiaries the added convenience of being closer to where they live.
“Until now, many area physicians who participate in the TRICARE Prime network have been understandably reluctant to admit their TRICARE Prime patients to St. Luke’s,” says Randall Hartley, St. Vincent’s HealthCare Administrator for St. Luke’s Hospital. “Our contract with TRICARE Prime is a good thing for those physicians and their patients who have always felt that St. Luke’s Hospital was their first choice for hospital services. Now our services are covered under their insurance plan. We’re pleased to welcome TRICARE Prime beneficiaries as evidence of our commitment to serve the healthcare needs of all the members of our community.”
As St. Luke’s Hospital continues to expand its services, it increases medical care options for the community. St. Luke’s patients have greater access to a variety of specialists. Not only are they able to receive care from the providers they have grown to trust, but they have access to resources available throughout SVHC.
