The Teenage Brain – an Oxymoron

HAMPTON ROADS, Va.—A free program, “The Teenage Brain—an Oxymoron,” will be presented November 12, 7-9 p.m., in CHKD’s Brickhouse Auditorium, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk.

Noted author and lecturer Barb Bancroft, R.N., will discuss the development of the brain from the womb to the teenage years and how major changes in the brain are correlated with specific behaviors – reassuring parents about their teens’ actions.

Bancroft, also a pediatric nurse practitioner, is known for her entertaining and information packed seminars. She is author of the books Medical Minutia, an Apple a Day – the ABCs of Diet and Disease and Live a Little, Laugh a Lot. She has provided more than 2,000 educational and motivational seminars on clinical and health maintenance topics to parents and professionals. Bancroft is executive director/president of CPP Associates, a continuing education firm for corporations and healthcare professionals base in Chicago.

Advance registration for the program is requested and can be accomplished online at www.chkd.org/classes or by calling (757) 668-7500 or toll free at (800) 395-2453.

The program is co-presented by CHKD and Kohl’s Department Stores as part of a series of lectures on children’s health and wellness. The series is made possible by a $68,900 grant from Kohl’s through the Kohl’s Cares for Kids campaign.
