Staff from BMI The Saxon Clinic provided free blood pressure checks to its staff, patients and members of the local community in recognition of Know your Numbers! Week, which took place from the 13th - 19th September.
The Saxon Clinic asked their staff and patients 'Are you gambling with your health?' as it aimed to urge them to get their free blood pressure check.
The Saxon Clinic was part of around 1,400 official 'Pressure Stations' in community venues and workplaces that took part in the nation's biggest blood pressure testing event, run by UK charity the Blood Pressure Association.
Research from the Blood Pressure Association has revealed almost three quarters of adults do not know their blood pressure numbers. This ignorance means they are taking an unnecessary gamble with their health as uncontrolled high blood pressure causes stroke and heart attack.
One in three UK adults have high blood pressure. It's a symptomless condition – a 'silent killer' – so the only way to find out if you have high blood pressure is to have regular blood pressure checks. However, once detected, it can be very successfully managed.
